Grabbed by Strangford
We did another dive on the drop off at Ballyhenry Point on Sunday. Launched Manta from Strangford public slipway at 12:00 with David, Doros, Bernard and David from QUB SAC. Conor was delayed so we dived at slack water 13:15 for 13:30 slack without him.
Wind was fresh WNW and the surface was choppy until the tide slackened, then went flat on the ebb. Doros handled the boat and Bernard dived with the two Davids. Visibility about two metres so it was quite dark, but Bernard’s video lights made it easy for us to stay together.
On returning to Strangford we saw one of the dolphins heading up against the current, which was running fiercely on the buoys. Shoals of sprat jumping in the water. Bernard did a second dive at outer Lees with Conor at 16:10. Tide was falling fast, but no current around the wreck. Boat was then recovered by Doros, Conor and Bernard and returned home by 17:30.
